The rig we are proposing has determining advantages compared to traditional ones on several points: - 1 - Rig is lighter, more compact, stronger and less expensive. - 2 - Erection of the rig takes only several minutes even on sea. After being transported and put into water, the sailing boat is operational. The rig can be installed on any boat. Most of the components are standardised. The rig can be installed on motor boats of all size. When navigating with the motor, the part of the rig fixed aboard is unobtrusive and if the wind is favourable it is possible to sail and save the fuel. - 3 - Safety is better due to the decreasing of the overturning torque whatever the sailing boat. It is possible to increase the sail area or decrease the weight of the ballast. For the sportsmen, very high speed can be obtained. The rig we propose is able to compete with the traditional ones and outclass them in several fields. It will enable motor boats to use sails.
